Durex Avanti Condoms - What Happened.

Condom Info, Condom News, Latex Allergies 1 Comment »

Durex Avanti condoms, always one of our favorite non-latex condoms, was discontinued by Durex Condoms back in early 2008. We have received word from a source that the Durex Avanti is due to be released in March of 2009.

The new Avanti product will no longer be made of Polyurethane instead being manufactured using Polyisoprene, the same material being used to manufacture the new Lifestyles Skynn Condom.

There have been industry rumors as to why Durex decided to remake this very popular condom including the most popular, Polyurethane may have never been approved as a product that provided protection against STDs and that “Testing was being conducted”.

What we do know is that both Polyurethane and Polyisoprene both provide FDA Approved protection against STDs and unwanted pregnancy. We also know that Polyisoprene is a much better material than Polyurethane for making a condom.

Polyurethane was much like Wax Paper in its characteristics. It provided little if any expansion and was very noisy making a funny crinkling sound when used. Polyisoprene is very stretchable and is more like latex in its characteristics. This makes it a much better choose as it will accommodate mens various sizes. Both offer greater heat transfer and both are an A in sensitivity (although polyurethane can be made much thinner than polyisoprene).

We applaud Durex for making the switch to this new breed Non Latex Product and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Durex Avanti. We urge consumers to be very weary when purchasing these products as many of the older Avanti’s are still on store shelves.  Highly reputable companies will be given the new products first, CVS, Walgreens, Eckerts, Condom Depot..  Expect a wide release to smaller retail outlets by mid 2010.

Crown Condoms Are They Really The Best?

Condom Info 1 Comment »

We get asked constantly, “What makes these Crown Condoms better than any other brand?”

Simply put, Crown Condoms are simply the thinnest condom on the market and unlike other “Thin” condoms the crown skinless skin is also very durable and dependable.

We have received more reviews on this product then our 10 nest best selling products.. COMBINED.

So what is it that everyone states? Two things.. 1.) These are the closest thing to feeling like “Bareback” (Not wearing a condom) and 2.) They are too snug fitting. Addressing the thinness, Crown condoms are made to be thinner than any other latex condom on the market. The Japanese company that manufactures them has the only real manufacturing process that can guarantee this feeling without compromising the strength or reliability of the condom. Many other companies that make these type of products have one thing in common, condom failure.

I want to first address condom reliability by making this statement. No Condom is 100% effective, however if you practice the correct way to use a condom, including using a waterbased lubricant inside and outside the condom, all condoms will provide almost 100% effectiveness. The key on the Super Thin type condom is to apply plenty of lubricant inside and outside the condom.

As for the “snugness”.. These condoms are made by a Company in Japan. In case you have lived on the Moon for the past few decades, Japanese men have always been stereotyped as not being one of the most well endowed.  Hence the Japanese manufacturers make a slightly smaller condom ( Kimono Condoms, Beyond Seven Condoms and Crown Condoms ). This holds true on Crown. It is slightly longer in length compared to average condom size, however it is also slightly narrower in width.

The bottom line is unless you are extremely well endowed (8″ Plus Length or 6″ Plus Width Around)  the Crown condom is by far the most sensitive and closest to nothing condom on the market. We have yet to find any product that even comes close in sensitivity.  It may feel a little tight but its dependability and sensitivity more than makes up for it.
